When one thinks of a jaguar, they likely conjure up images of a large, spotted cat in a jungle or rainforest. So it be can surprising to hear of an 'North-American jaguar'. While the name is technically correct, it can be a little misleading. While jaguars once roamed in California, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, and even Louisiana, with some Native accounts claiming their existence as far north as the Pacific Northwest and as far east as Florida, the only place they've been consistently sighted since the 1940s (within the United States) is Arizona.
